Rupert Hüttler


Partner of Von Wobeser y Sierra with more than 14 years of experience advising Fortune 500 and other leading companies, institutions and government entities in the setting up and management of businesses in Mexico as well as in the Latin American region. He has acted as a strategic legal advisor in major business decisions in both Corporate and Intellectual Property matters and has consolidated client's objectives regarding day to day business operations. He is an Austrian lawyer with a dual education. Furthermore, he has studied and worked in both Europe and Mexico. This experience has given him a unique advantage and understanding regarding Mexican and European laws as well as a cultural sensitivity between different countries and cultures. His solid knowledge and comprehension of both distinct legal systems and processes allows him to offer clients Mexican know- how that ensures a client's business success through visionary, pragmatic and preventive full service legal strategies and solutions.  Lead counsel to BMW in the negotiation and execution of an investment agreement with the State of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.  Currently, advising the implementation of such investment (value more than USD $ 1 billion).

He has thorough working experience offering legal strategies and solutions that minimize liabilities and prevent problems in the short, medium and long run. His work is focused on international projects, specifically in aiding foreign companies establishing or consolidating their operations in Mexico. He has counseled international clients on policy issues relating to foreign investment in Mexico and been a leading advisor in complex business transactions including important M&A deals taking place in Mexico and their negotiations. Furthermore, he has been involved in the strategic plans behind agreements and tactical documents for major national and international transactions. Additionally, he has assisted companies and organizations with joint- ventures, commercial contracts of all kinds, corporate governance programs, spin-offs, integration of subsidiaries and conducted due diligence for global clients.


Industrial & Intellectual Property

He is the Co-Head of the Industrial & Intellectual Property Practice and has comprehensive knowledge and concrete experience with the managing of multinational intellectual property portfolios. He has helped companies to increase their business as well as their market presence and market share. Specifically he has aided companies and brands to increase their profits via brand extension, and the offering of new products and services in Mexico. In this regard, he has also been involved in the counseling of advertising, marketing programs and activities including promotions, direct marketing campaigns and social media projects. He has also developed strategies and plans that protect clients against piracy and legal liabilities. Additionally, he has counseled and assisted many institutions in the launching of new companies, brands and products. His area of expertise includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial secrets, licenses and domain names.
