The Committee will be composed of one representative from each of the Ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Finance and Public Credit, Environment and Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development, Communications and Transportation and Health, who will have both voice and vote. It will be presided over by the head of the Ministry of Economy or by the head of the Assistant Secretariat of Foreign Trade in the former’s absence and it will be convened within the next 35 business days.
The Committee may invite to its meetings members of the private sector, chambers of commerce and business associations, such as the Business Coordination Board, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism, the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States, the Consejo Nacional Agropecuario, A.C, the Confederación de Asociaciones de Agentes Aduanales de la República Mexicana, A.C, and the Latin American Confederation of Customs Agents, among others, who will only have a voice but no vote.
We applaud this initiative which has the potential to be a magnificent forum for dialogue to, among other things, avoid governmental measures and regulations that could hinder international trade and hear and address the valid and reasonable concerns of the private sector.
