• National and International Commercial Arbitration

Under the leadership of Claus von Wobeser, renowned arbitrator both nationally and internationally, several of the Firm’s other members have acquired extensive experience in arbitration, acting as arbitrators, as counsel and as consultants representing important domestic and foreign companies involved in international commercial disputes.

The experience of the members of the Firm as arbitrators and counsel includes commercial arbitrations between Mexican companies, between Mexican companies and foreign companies and between exclusively foreign companies. In the handling of such procedures the Firm has the knowledge and sophistication necessary to apply the most commonly used Rules of Arbitration in Mexico and the world, such as the Rules of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, those of the American Arbitration Association, the Mexican Arbitration Center and the UNCITRAL, as well as others. In fact, several lawyers in our Firm are important members of global arbitral institutions such as, among others, the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association, the London Court of International Arbitration and the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

The Firm’s arbitration practice is not limited, however, to private commercial disputes, given that members of the Firm have also been appointed as arbitrators and are qualified to handle disputes between States arising from Free Trade Agreements (Chapter 11—Investment, and Chapter 19— Countervailing Duties) and Investment Protection Treaties.

Finally, it should be pointed out that our prestige and experience in this area has resulted in several members of the Firm participating in international arbitral proceedings as experts in Mexican commercial law.
