Luis Burgueño

Luis Burgueño has been a partner of Von Wobeser y Sierra, S.C., since 2003, where he leads the M&A and corporate practice of the firm.  Over 15 years of practice, Mr. Burgueño has represented purchasers, sellers and targets in structuring and negotiating M&A of all sizes and levels of complexity, with an emphasis on cross-borders acquisitions.  He has advised world class clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, Diageo plc, US Bank, Anheuser-Busch and Motorola, Inc. in high profile and successful transactions in Mexico.

As part of his practice, he regularly advises clients on corporate finance and governance, corporate and commercial law, as well as intellectual property, information technology and e-commerce, media and telecommunications.  Mr. Burgueño has participated in international and domestic arbitrations as party counsel and arbitrator.

Mr. Burgueño received his law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (ELD) in 1997 and a Master of Laws Degree from New York University School of Law in 2000, obtaining the Flora S. and Jacob L. Newman Award for Distinction in the Program.  

He has been Lecturer on Telecommunications Law at the Universidad Anahuac (Graduate Studies), Product Liablity (ELD Graduate Studies) and Assistant Professor of Introduction to the Study of Law at the ELD.

He has been speaker at conferences on M&A and corporate law, intellectual property, telecommunications, information technology and antitrust.  He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the Advisory Board of the Institute for Law and Technology of the Center for American and International Law located at Dallas, TX.
